Founded in April 2023, BroadwayBluesBuffet was created by Ronald Shaer, a seasoned entertainer with decades of experience. After serving for more than 20 years as the Master of Ceremonies at the world-famous Cotton Club in Harlem, Ronald saw how much student groups enjoyed his shows. Inspired by those successes, he decided to build a dedicated program designed specifically for the student tour industry.
Our mission is to provide visiting students from across the United States and Canada with an engaging program that combines superior entertainment, a mini history presentation, and a full buffet. Ronald Shaer
Ronald Shaer is the founder and principal performer of BroadwayBluesBuffet, where every show blends music, education, and culture through four unique sections: a live band, a full buffet, a mini history lesson on Harlem in the 1920s, 1930s, and 1940s, and a one-hour performance featuring both the band and a singing headliner.
For over 20 years, Ronald served as the Master of Ceremonies at the world-famous Cotton Club in Harlem, where he introduced audiences to the history of jazz and spoke on Black History in New York City. His deep knowledge of Harlem’s cultural legacy, combined with his natural stage presence, has made him a trusted voice and performer for student groups and audiences worldwide.
In addition to his emcee work, Ronald is a schooled and trained percussionist who studied at the Berklee College of Music in Boston under Jazz Hall of Fame drummer Alan Dawson. His musical career has taken him across New York, the United States, and the Caribbean Islands, where he has performed with many renowned artists and led multiple bands as both leader and drummer.
Ronald’s professional background also includes decades of work in advanced electronics and fire safety. He founded and successfully grew a security systems company to 20 road technicians, later selling the business after 30 years to fully dedicate himself to music and cultural education. He is also a certified fire inspector in the State of New Jersey, reflecting his wide-ranging expertise.
Originally from Boston, Massachusetts, Ronald has been a performer since childhood and continues to dedicate his life to sharing the world of jazz. His mission is to educate and inspire students by connecting them to the rhythms, stories, and history of Harlem, creating experiences that combine entertainment with cultural understanding.
With a lifetime of experience on stage and in leadership, Ronald Shaer embodies the spirit of Harlem’s jazz legacy and brings it to life for every audience he welcomes.
